Biography
North German Residency
Heiko Jaeckstein was born in Reinbek, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, in 1968 and grew up near Hamburg. The unique light of north Germany played a major role in his artistic development. Also the people who live in this “region between two seas”, left and leave a mark on his style.
Heiko Jäckstein studied graphic design in Hamburg and modern painting in Trier. He teaches at art academies and art schools in Germany for five years at the European Art Academy in Trier.
Jäckstein has been researching the history of the Gothmund artists' colony, which was established in 1889, since 2013 and has published - for the first time in art history - about the colony
of the impressionists in the fishing village near Lübeck.
Jäckstein lives and works in Lübeck.
